US Presidential Election - $6 Billion Spent on Campaign and ...

Finally, all the hype and campaigning and spinning is over. Obama remains in office and not much has changed. A few senators and governors have shuffled seats, the Democrats still control the Senate and the Republicans still control the House. Obamacare is permanent. The US is still broke and still very divided. The speaker of the Republican led house has already stated that taxes won?t be raised, as he has done for the last 2 years. The Democrats are still stumping that the Republicans are the problem. You?d think $6 billion spent on this campaign would have done more...

Oh wait, Colorado and Washington state voted to legalize marijuana. If this political bickering keeps up and nothing is done in DC to fix this broke nation?s problems, legalizing marijuana may be important for Americans as they desperately try to escape their reality. If things get much worse, some states may try to legalize some harder drugs like hallucinogenics.

At this point it doesn?t matter what political stance you have in America. Enough with the defamation. Enough with blaming the other guy and not holding yourself accountable. Both Republicans and Democrats need to come together and make dramatic changes. Compromise is needed if any progress is to be made.

Democrats are going to have to scrap some of their pet spending projects. Republicans are going to have to give in on some tax increases. Taxes in America need to increase. Period end of story. The country needs more revenue and unless a dramatic rebound occurs in GDP growth, that is its only choice. I don?t agree with the strategy, so hold off on your hate mail, but I?m being a realist. Ronald Reagan was a realist and viewed by many as the greatest President of our generation. He was a Democrat turned Republican who lowered taxes in areas and raised taxes in others. He crossed the aisle, implemented spending programs and his policies reinvigorated the country. While he didn?t get everything he wanted, progress and improvement in the economy was evident.

The supreme court in America will likely look very different in a couple years and that may be the only real change that comes from this election. I don?t know if that?s worth $6 billion when you have nearly 47 million people on food stamps. This doesn?t have to be the new normal, but it will be if politicians don?t compromise.

For the sake of the world economy and its own people, America needs to unite itself once again. The election is over. Republicans need to wipe those tears away and Democrats need to kick that hangover from the late night partying. Get back to work and get something done!
