This is a full time faculty position in the Foreign Languages Program at Chemeketa Community College. In addition to teaching, Spanish faculty are intensely involved in program leadership, student advising, curriculum development and coordinating of class projects and outcomes. Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Spanish, or Master's degree in a related field including a minimum of 24 graduate semester credits in Spanish?

Superior-level Spanish proficiency ? Preferred Qualifications: Coursework in 2nd language teaching pedagogy?

2 or more years' experience teaching college level credit Spanish courses?

Experience using current Second Language Acquisition models, techniques and technologies?

Experience teaching Spanish at a community college?

Experience teaching Spanish for Native Speakers?

A willingness to collaborate in a collegial manner with fellow faculty and staff team members?

A passion and enthusiasm for teaching Spanish as a second language ?

Teaches classes in first and second year college Spanish, Spanish for Native Speakers, and other related courses as required, following approved course outlines.?

Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes, maintains regularly scheduled office hours, assists students in meeting program goals.?

Creates and maintains a classroom environment in which all or nearly all verbal interaction occurs in Spanish.?

Assists with academic advising.?

Attends and participates in program meetings and serves on program and college committees.?

Coordinates program-related student services such as language tutoring, College Credit Now and course challenge exams.?

Takes a leadership or advisory role in program-related campus activities, such as Spanish Club and Spanish Conversation Table.?

Participates in curriculum development activities as required.?

Maintains superior language proficiency and keeps current in language learning pedagogy.?
