OVERLAND PARK, Kan. ? A family dog and cat perished in an Overland Park house fire late Sunday night.
Firefighters were called to the 12900 block of S. Pflumm Road around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday. When they arrived heavy flames and smoke were coming from the house. Firefighters from Overland Park and Lenexa worked for an hour to control the blaze.
A man, woman and one dog escaped the blaze uninjured. Another dog and cat did not.
Firefighters said the fire caused significant damage to the home. The cause is still under investigation.
