The Ministry of Sport will introduce coaches and distribute equipment on the following days in the following rural areas:
??Monday 18th February, 2012 at 3.30 pm - Tabaquite Recreational Grounds
??Tuesday 19th February, 2013 ? Toco at 3.30 pm - Composite School, Galera Road, Toco
??Wednesday 20th February, 2013 at 3.30 pm ? Mayaro Indoor Facility
This three (3) day event is a continuity of the Ministry?s ?Taking Sport to Rural Areas? programme which was launched on June 16, 2012 at the Toco Composite School Auditorium, Galero Road, Toco.?
The Ministry of Sport?s ?Taking Sport to the Rural Areas Programme? seeks to address the?? challenges plagued by the rural areas through the medium of sport, by providing immediate improvement of infrastructure, equipment, as well as opportunities for capacity building and enhancement for all coaches, volunteers, etc.
This Programme is expected to enhance the lives of people in the rural areas through recreation, sport and social interaction, to empower the people and build positive relationships throughout the community, it also serves to identify potential talent within the community for further development by implementing a sustainable development programme that would help create/add to the pool of talented athletes to clubs and national teams. This would be achieved by conducting training programmes in various sporting and coaching disciplines of track & field, basketball, cricket, netball, football, volleyball.
